Use Your Phone's Voice Assistant for Easier Cooking

Use Your Phone's Voice Assistant for Easier CookingEver feel like cooking would be a lot easier if you just had four or five hands? If you're prone to using your gadgets as a personal sous-chef (as I am), here's a tip that may help: use voice search.

Voice search is one of those things that always makes you feel like a weirdo when you use it, but this is actually a really great use for it: when your hands are full (or messy) and you need some help, voice search can accomplish a lot of tasks for you, whether it's Google's Voice Search on Android or Siri on iOS. For example, you can:

  • Convert measurements ("How many quarts in a gallon?")
  • Set kitchen timers ("Set the alarm for 30 minutes from now")
  • Search for alternative recipes
  • Text your spouse/roommate if you forgot an ingredient

...And so on. I've always wanted more of an excuse to use voice search, and this actually seems like a pretty good one?if there's one place I don't want to be touching my phone or tablet more than I have to, it's when I have cake batter all over my hands. Of course, you still have to touch it a little to activate voice search, but there are solutions for that too.
