Ford Galaxy MPV Spied Hitting Detroit Road

Earlier this week, a minivan that appears to be Ford Galaxy MPV was spotted testing the road of metropolitan Detroit. The Galaxy was redesigned last 2010, and this is perhaps what people are seeing on the images.

More Galaxy MPV Spy Shots

Prior to this, a Galaxy MPV mule was spotted last April in Germany, with speculations that the car manufacturer is working on a replacement for the said model.

Although still wearing some of the old skin, the car features visible changes, including wider track and changed nose. The latter is most likely to feature the same sort of Kinetic Design as the 2012 Focus and 2013 Escape or Fusion.

With the look of its twin exhaust and fuel filler cap that is sticking out, it looks like the spotted Ford Galaxy MPV is powered with a new powertrain. It could probably feature a 2.0-liter Ecoboost, detuned to about 240 hp. However, the rest of its powertrain lineup will be borrowed from the European Mondeo.

The Galaxy MPV has been in the market since 2006, and it received a facelift in 2009. With the mule being spotted once again, people could expect that Ford will launch the new model early next year.

Ford Lincoln Car in China

On another news, Ford announced last Tuesday that it will bring the Lincoln brand to China in 2014. Dubbed the company?s luxury brand, the Lincoln cars would be available in the last six months of 2014.

According to Dave Schoch, chairman and chief executive officer of Ford Motor China, ?With Lincoln, we will be expanding our product offering to cover China?s fastest-growing luxury car segment.?

Prior to this, Ford announced that it plans to bring 15 new vehicles to China after three years. However, the latest announcement came even as China?s auto sales decreased due to economic slow down. Furthermore, some Chinese cities limit the number of vehicles because they are concerned with congestion and pollution.

A Chinese industry group revealed that the country?s overall vehicle sales rose to 2.5 percent only last year, compared with its annual increase of over 32 percent in 2010. In relation to this, Ford was able to sell 319,882 units in China within the first seven months of this year. The automaker is also building five new plants in the country, which will double its production capacity to 1.2 million passenger vehicles every year.

As the world?s largest auto market, China has increasingly becoming important to foreign players like Ford.
