Breakthrough tiny implant could help prevent skin cancer

London, September 4 (ANI): An Australian firm has developed an implant that protects the skin from cancer while producing a safe tan.

Developer Clinuvel insists that it is for medical use and is not intended for cosmetic tanning.

The implant, the size of a grain of rice, is surgically placed just above the hip.

It then releases an artificial version of a hormone needed for tanning.

As well as providing defence against skin cancer, it will help people who suffer severe allergic reactions to sunlight.
